Glen Truswell and Sam Pascoe completed the triple this month by adding the I14 Europeans to their long list of successes. In an open letter to his sponsors, Glen goes through details of his success and his plans for the future...
"Within two weeks of its launch and having never actually raced, the latest in the legacy of FloWave International 14’s “Scrumpet” GBR1553 convincingly won the coveted Prince of Wales Cup Race/Week already making it both a National and European Championship winning boat in this extreme and historic development class.
As the evolutionary successor to FloWaves “Crumpet” GBR1543 (winner of every single piece of silverware in the class to include the World title) the expectation of this the next custom carbon FloWave build was always going to be extremely high. All initial performance goals have already been exceeded though, meaning the future looking towards the 2016 Worlds in France appears extremely promising!
“To get this boat to the point it’s at has taken relentless single minded dedication and a tortuously long and methodical winter build program on my part yet without the people and industry organisations who directly support me this effort would undoubtedly have been floored. If you have received this email you are one of the people I must thank most greatly.”
“The plan from here on in is a steady progressive run in to the 2016 Worlds as having spent only 14 days on the water during the last nine months (Sailing “Crumpet” in January at the Australian 2015 Worlds) Sam and I need to slowly work back towards sailing at our best whilst continuing to refine the new and improved tools available to us. To be honest I am relishing the prospect greatly, this the fun bit now the bulk of the high risk development & build work is over!”"
See you on the water
